When you commission a portrait from Bareface, you’re not just receiving a digital file — you’re receiving a fully owned, professionally hand-illustrated artwork created exclusively for you. Upon full payment, you receive full ownership and usage rights to your completed portrait. You’re free to use it across a wide range of personal and professional contexts, with just a few restrictions to respect the artist’s work and Bareface’s intellectual property guidelines.

What You Can Do With Your Portrait

Your portrait is yours to use freely in both personal and professional settings. Permitted uses include:
  • Personal use — profile photos, social media, gifts, printed keepsakes
  • Business and professional use — your website, LinkedIn profile, email signatures, business cards, and presentations
  • Marketing and brand materials — advertising campaigns, promotional content, and brand identity assets
  • Physical merchandise for resale — you may incorporate your portrait into products such as prints, apparel, or other merchandise and sell those products

What You Cannot Do

A small number of uses are not permitted in order to protect the integrity of the artwork and the artists behind it:
  • Reselling your portrait as an NFT or any similar digital collectible
  • Claiming authorship of the artwork — your portrait was hand-illustrated by a Bareface studio artist, and that creative credit belongs to them
  • Removing or altering any artist signatures or watermarks present on the portrait

Source Files (If Purchased)

If you purchase the source file add-on for your commission, you receive the original Photoshop document (.PSD) for your portrait. With the source file, you have full rights to edit, modify, and use it without restriction. You can adjust colors, recompose elements, resize layers, or adapt the artwork for any purpose. Source files are provided as-is for your complete creative use.

Bareface’s Portfolio Rights

Bareface retains the right to reproduce, publish, and display completed portrait commissions in our portfolio, on our website, on social media, and in marketing materials. We credit our artists’ work in connection with these uses. By placing an order, you grant Bareface this right by default.
You can opt out of portfolio use at any time — before, during, or after your order. Simply email hey@bareface.io with your request and we will honor it immediately. Your portrait will remain private and will not be featured publicly in any Bareface marketing.

Reference Photos and Before/After Marketing

Bareface may occasionally request your permission to use the reference photos you submitted alongside your completed portrait in before-and-after marketing showcases. We will only do this with your explicit consent — we’ll ask you directly, and you are never obligated to agree. If you do not consent, your reference photos will not appear in any Bareface marketing materials.

Summary

You may use your portrait for any personal or professional purpose — social media, websites, LinkedIn, email signatures, presentations, business cards, and brand identity.
You may incorporate your portrait into physical products (prints, apparel, merchandise) and sell those products commercially.
You may not resell your portrait as an NFT or similar digital collectible. This is the only resale restriction on your usage rights.
You may not claim that you created the artwork, and you may not remove or alter any artist signatures or watermarks on the portrait.
Bareface uses completed portraits for portfolio and marketing by default. Email hey@bareface.io at any time to opt out — no deadline, no questions asked.
