Every Bareface portrait follows a deliberate six-stage process designed to ensure that what you receive is genuinely hand-crafted and held to a consistent standard of quality. There are no shortcuts, no automation, and no templates involved at any point — only skilled artists working from your reference photograph to produce an original illustration. Understanding each stage helps you know what to expect from the moment you place your order to the moment your finished files land in your account.

Assignment

Once your order is placed, your reference photograph is reviewed for quality and detail. A studio artist is then selected whose expertise and specialisation align with your chosen portrait style. This careful matching means your commission is handled by someone who has spent years refining precisely the craft your portrait requires — not a generalist working outside their strengths.

Creation

Your assigned artist begins hand-illustrating your portrait from scratch, working deliberately to capture not just your likeness but your presence and character. Every stroke is intentional and every detail is considered. This is not automated or templated work — it is genuine human interpretation, with the artist applying their classical training and technical skill to each element of the composition.

Review

Before your portrait ever reaches you, it undergoes a rigorous internal review by the studio director. Every commission is evaluated against exacting standards for technical precision, artistic integrity, and overall composition. This critical quality check ensures that what you receive represents the full capability of the studio — not just a first pass.

Preview

Your completed portrait is delivered digitally through the proofing platform for your personal review. This is your opportunity to examine every detail and assess whether the illustration aligns with your vision. Take as much time as you need — two complimentary rounds of refinements are included with every commission, and you can submit your feedback directly through the platform.

Refinement

If you request modifications, your artist revisits the portrait with your feedback in hand. Whether the adjustment involves a styling element, a composition tweak, or a technical aspect of likeness, each refinement is approached with the same care and attention as the original creation. You have two full rounds of refinements included before final approval is required.

Delivery

Once you approve the portrait, your high-resolution digital files are delivered to your account and are ready to download immediately. You receive both a JPEG (white background) and a PNG (transparent background), both at 4072×3256 pixels, along with a Certificate of Authenticity. If you added the source file to your order, the layered Photoshop document is delivered alongside your finals.
Individual commissions are completed within 7–10 business days. For team orders, delivery timelines are confirmed and agreed upon at project initiation based on the scope and number of portraits involved.
