Upload your reference photo at checkout or any time after placing your order. Every submission is reviewed personally before work begins. If a different photo would produce a stronger result, the studio will reach out before starting.
Artist Commission
Your portrait is assigned to a studio artist whose expertise fits the Chronicle style. Every stippled dot, every pen stroke, and every area of colour is applied by hand. No templates, no automation — the full complexity of the technique is built from scratch for your portrait.
Review & Refinement
Once your portrait is complete, it’s delivered to you for review through a proofing platform. Two rounds of refinements are included before final approval. Submit your feedback directly, and the artist will make the requested adjustments.

Reference Photo Tips
Chronicle’s stipple technique captures fine facial detail with exceptional precision. To give the artist the best material to work from:- Composition — your face, neck, and upper torso should be fully visible and unobstructed
- Lighting — natural or professional lighting that illuminates your features evenly; avoid harsh shadows or overexposure, which can obscure the detail the artist needs
- Sharpness — a clear, well-focused image — the more detail visible in the reference, the more the artist can render in the stippled portrait
- Expression — submit the expression you want captured; expressions are drawn directly from the reference photo and are not adjusted during refinements
